My name is Dieter Torheiden and I joined the Rotary Club of Chatswood in April 2005. My classification is Pharmaceuticals Manufacturer. Since 2006 I'm the Director/Chair International Service and will be in the up-coming Rotary Year 2010/11. I studied Science, Biology, and worked for around 3y in a private Research Institute in Munich. After that I moved into Pharmaceutical Management and currently I'm the General Manager of the Australian/NZL affiliate, based in Sydney, of an international Pharmaceutical Company. I joined Rotary following a call of my "voice within" to try to "give something back"! I had and still do enjoy a successful private and business life and as a consequence I like to share my success and help others less fortunate. 'Service above Self' is a striking and inspiring motto and Rotary and my Rotary fellows give me the opportunity to share and help where help is needed. Besides that I enjoy our regular meetings, discussions, comradeship, activities and above that we're a fantastic bunch of people who are active and have a lot of fun.

Gerard Say joined the Rotary Club of Chatswood in the Sydney Olympic Year of 2000 after he completed twenty-four years as a primary-school principal in Catholic Education. He thought that he finally had the time to devote to the Rotary movement after a very busy life leading, for fourteen years, a school-community of 600 students from 420 families as well as forty members of staff. Twenty-five years earlier in his home-town of Wagga, Gerard had been very active in the local Jaycees Club and so he very much looked forward to resuming membership in a service organisation. In his decade as a Rotarian, Gerard has taken a particular interest in the Youth Avenue of Service and in the Club Bulletin as a key communication tool within the Club. 2008-2009 saw him becoming President of the Chatswood Rotary Club. This year included a special emphasis on quality guest-speakers, a change of venue for our Dinner Meetings and the implementation of strategies to stem constant losses of membership within the Club. Gerard has enjoyed greatly mixing with members having so many different backgrounds and life-experiences. Every year brings fresh challenges. During 2009-2010, the launching of The Rotary Voices at the district-level has been a source of great satisfaction.
